Mated to the new line of EcoTec3 engines is a revamped six-speed auto with built-in cruise grade braking featuring down shifts when towing. Also new for V-8 models, larger 9.5 and 9.76-inch rear axles are stronger to handle the EcoTec3’s larger power and torque output.
A fully-boxed hydroformed frame uses high-strength steel to provide more strength and less weight to give the 2014 Sierra increased tow ratings across the engine lineup. An available trailer brake controller also assists in ensuring the Sierra maintains the safest possible towing conditions by working with StabiliTrak to slow the Sierra safely when towing. A Max Trailering Package is available with most cab configurations for those who use their Sierra for heavy-duty towing. The Max trailering package with the 6.2L V8 offers a best-in-class trailering rating of 12,000 lbs.
